“Durastream” is a CPVC (chlorinated polyvinyl chloride) compound product manufactured by the SEKISUI CHEMICAL Group using proprietary technology. The performance and specifications of “Durastream” and the certifications it has obtained are introduced below.
“Durastream” is a CPVC compound product of the SEKISUI CHEMICAL Group. The various plastic material technologies we have developed over our 50-year history have enabled us to realize a stable mass production system with high quality, which has been highly evaluated by many customers including molding companies.
“Durastream has 3 main features.
First feature is its high performance in a wide range of fields. “Durastream” has excellent heat resistance, as well as high flame resistance, chemical resistance, corrosion resistance, tensile strength and bending strength.
Second feature is the effect reduction in labour costs during installation. Pipes made from CPVC are lightweight and easy to cut and glue during installation, which contributes to reduced installation and training time.
Third feature is the wide range of uses. CPVC’s strengths in heat resistance, flame resistance, chemical resistance, and mechanical strength allow it to be used in harsh environments that other plastic materials cannot withstand. Specific examples include fire sprinkler pipes and fittings,pipes and fittings for industrial usage.
CPVC is PVC chlorinated to enhance its performance and meet a wide range of application standards. For example, it exceeds the heat deformation temperature, tensile strength, tensile modulus, and impact strength required for hot/cold water supply pipes and fittings applications.
“Durastream” is certified internationally by the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF), a non-profit organisation in the USA, which sets safety standards for food and drinking water sanitation equipment and products. The NSF is a third-party organization that sets safety standards for food and drinking water sanitation equipment and products.
While few CPVC manufacturers worldwide have achieved the stringent NSF certification, Durastream has achieved NSF 61 (assessing the health effects of materials and products for drinking water applications) and NSF 14 (plastic pipe components and associated materials). “Durastream” has proven its high level of safety for piping in drinking water applications.
